| Owned by a group of six individual parties, the vision for this waterside campground was to create a complex to which these friends could all eventually retire. And why not? With a wharf at one end and its own boat ramp, this idyllic playground – not too far from civilization – could be accessed by either boat or car.
Developing a master plan from an existing multiple-unit consented scheme, the owners sought to reduce site numbers along specific design guidelines which meant sites could be purchased and developed with a degree of freedom while complying to strict privacy, sunlight angles and outdoor areas. Some complexity was introduced with changes to the underlying zoning since purchase while avoiding the requirement to obtain a new resource consent. |
FGA engaged with the six stakeholders and incorporated their individual visions in the cohesive final design for both housing and community areas. The resulting development provides a shared sense of community, incorporating both a shared boat shed and a communal space where the friends can gather, whatever the weather. |
