| Nestled amongst pōhutukawa bordering the foreshore of one of Te Tai Kokerau’s favourite beaches, this beachfront house at Coopers Beach is specifically adapted to its coastal environment.
Making reference to the historical New Zealand vernacular of casual beachside living, the simple roof lines and play with forms and volumes create a spacious beach home completely lacking ostentation. |
Initially designed and built as a modest three-bedroom holiday house with a separate bunk room to accommodate the client’s extended family, FGA was engaged to design significant alterations which add an additional living space and bedroom areas to the upper floor.
The colour and material pallet allude to the richness and textures of the trunks of the pōhutukawa trees that characterise the site. |
